The Jackson Daniel Lure range is a truly unique and magnificent small metal lure range, with a range of features that combine to create a super effective lure both in the freshwater and the saltwater.
The first thing you notice about the Jackson Daniels lures is that the tow point is located underneath the head rather than on top, which isn't just unique to look at but also allows the lure to have a really erratic and unpredictable action, perfect for imitating a fleeing baitfish. It makes the lure sit up on an angle when retrieved, which gives the lure action due to the flat-faced weighted section on the back of the lure that pushes against the water on the retrieve to give the lure its unpredictable darting wobble.
Originally designed for trout in streams, the Jackson Daniel is versatile enough to be used in saltwater as well, and has proven to be a seriously good fish catcher in these conditions, especially when the fish are feeding on baitfish of a similar size and profile. Because the weight of the lure is positioned at the back, these little metals cast a mile, which is fantastic if you're using them off the beach or rocks for species like tailor, salmon or tuna.
If you're using them for trout in freshwater, they can be worked in the depths when they're holding low, or wobbled along the streams with a constant slow retrieve.
If you're using the Daniel lures in the saltwater, it's recommended to upgrade the hooks to a small strong treble hook rather than the single they come with.
For a bigger version designed specifically for the saltwater, check out the Jackson Tobisugi Daniel Lure, designed with trebles, extra size and weight, and even a blade for added attraction.
