Sydney & Wollongong Fishing Report
Xavier had a good fish around Sydney harbour recently hopping from bay to bay chasing anything and everything that was biting. He fished with Ecogear Vibes working them off the bottom with two slow lifts then letting them sink back down with a bit of tension awaiting the bite. Lavender Bay held a few nice little Bream, Snapper and Kingfish. He then managed this nice flathead off Balmoral Beach and ended the session with a few squid, solid effort!
There has been good bream holding in the hacking. John managed 6 fish above the 30cm mark between Lilli Pilli and the main channel over the weekend. The Bottom Magic in colour GAL was the weapon of choice.
Plenty of kingfish are still around with big schools both inside the river and along the coast. Fishing the cliff’s from Jibbon to Wattamolla will see a better size with plenty to catch in excess of 70cm.John also had a fun session on light gear hooking plenty of kings in the Hacking using the Bolt Panic Popper.
Brook fished the Hacking as well on Monday for this nice 62cm flathead caught on the Renosky 3″ Super Shad soft plastic.
Reports of squid being caught off Oak Park.
Snapper are being caught on the regular up and down the coast. Reports of solid fish coming out of St Georges Basin and also up around the washer south of Port Hacking.
Joel Oliver landed this nice 5kg red a couple of nights ago, and another nice fish was taken by Patty Rees off Wollongong’s northern beaches using a 3″ soft plastic in 20m of water.
Lake Illawarra is still producing both flathead & bream on Soft Plastics.
Josh Robbins is pictured with a nice Bream taken from the Georges River recently using the Money Bait Egu Jig Trailers.
In spearfishing, there are plenty of Crayfish around and lots of fish life after the big swells we’ve just had. Huge schools of kingfish off Kiama, Mitch speared this solid 88cm fish two days ago, bonito and salmon are also around here in numbers. Big blackfish (and lots of them) off the Sea Cliff Bridge.
Jet Legge got stuck into the Crayfish recently using his Ocean Hunter Phantom GoPro Mask & Snorkel set.
Snapper speared off Stanwell Park.
