The Best Go-to Lure for Whiting
The Jackson Ebi Panic is a topwater prawn / nipper imitation popper rigged with assist hooks. The tow point on the rear perfectly imitates a fleeing prawn or nipper. When in action, it creates a rattle with that perfect amount of splash that gets Whiting very excited!

It’s not only the team at Fergo's who think this is the best lure available for attracting Whiting, but our customers rave about it and have all given the Ebi Panic 5-star reviews.
How To Use the Jackson Ebi Panic
The Jackson Ebi Panic was created to be used in shallow waters as a cast and twitch pencil bait that looks like it is running away from predators. It has a dog walking action, and its tail cup creates a sweet pop sound and splash.
- Step 1: Cast the lure as far out as desired.
- Step 2: Keep your rod tip pointed down to the side and avoid slack line by constant winding (Don’t stop when you see a fish!)
- Step 3: As you wind, jerk your rod tip with small, sharp rod twitches every ½ - 1 second.
- Step 4: Keep this jerky, twitching action up without stopping, and you'll be catching Whiting like a pro!
Where to use the Ebi Panic?
Being a surface lure, the Ebi Panic works best in shallow water, 30cm to 4 metres deep. Whiting, bream, and flathead love patrolling nipper and crab feeding flats. Look for those 5mm holes in the sand as a dead giveaway. Also, look for structures such as broken weed patches, oyster leases, and similar structures as fish-active hotspots. The best time of day to fish the flats is when the high tide is coming in, that's when the fish are sure to be active and hunting.
What else can the Ebi Panic catch?
As you can see from our pictures, we’ve caught a lot of other fish too with the Jackson Ebi Panic. It’s great at catching bream, flathead, and even sooty grunters. One of our customers, Duane, left a perfect review for the Ebi Panic and sent us a picture of a bream caught with the lure.

What sizes and variations work best?
The Jackson Ebi Panic is available in one size, with eleven different styles and colour variations. This surface lure is 70mm long and weighs 4 grams. The Jackson Ebi Panic Lure comes with front #10 treble hooks and back 2 x assist hooks.
The best colour styles that we've tested and have proven to be the best at enticing fish are the natural prawn colours, such as the WDS and CLB. As we've tested them all, we can also highly recommend the clear and white varieties, such as the BLS, CLH, and SRP, which work great and are very popular. For Sooties, the CHP is the standout colour style.
